Abstract: We study the relaxation problem for an hyperbolic system of balance laws which models the traffic flow. In particular we show, as the relaxation parameter tends to zero, away from the vacuum, the strong convergence to the equilibrium solution, which satisfies Kru{\v z}kov type entropy conditions. A uniqueness result is provided.
